All products on this page are manufactured by Spitzenberger + Spies GmbH & Co. KG

Spitzenberger + Spies, established more than 40 years, is one of the worlds leading manufacturers of analogue high performance linear amplifiers for industrial measurement and test applications. For many years the company has excelled in the design and manufacture of customer-specific test systems.
Computer Controlled Circuit Breaker Test System with Pneumatically Operated Test Jigs
In this Circuit Breaker Test System, the ESM 3000 current amplifier provides the current drive for the pneumatically operated test jigs. The complete system is computer controlled and all jigs operate independently to maximise the systems test throughput. Up to 4-devices can be simultaneously tested for their Thermal-trip characteristics whilst individsual devices can have their Magnetic-trip characteristics evaluated.
Other systems, including designs incorporating automated device feed, are also available as are similar systems for fuse testing applications.
NOTES:

Additional current transformers, which are fully compensated for, are used to provide output current up to several thousands of Amps.
Please contact us for any other configurations required.
AC Power Sources
The ES/ESM series of AC power amplifiers provide a source of constant current AC power. The current source is a linear power amplifier which provides a very accurate, reproducible and linear current output.
Typically, the ES/ESM series of current amplifiers operates over the frequency range 15 Hz to 1500 Hz, depending upon model. The standard amplifiers are available with output power up to 3 kVA, although larger models are available on request.

Typical applications for these amplifiers include:

  • Testing thermal trip characteristics of circuit breakers
  • Testing of trip characteristics of fuses
  • Testing magnetic trip characteristic of circuit breakers
  • Calibration and testing of ammeters, powermeters etc.
  • Complex mains simulation systems involving simulation of line currents AND line voltages across multiple phases (e.g. for testing of power line protection devices such as Distance Protection Relays for the electricity supply industry)

The nominal output power of the ES/ESM-series of current amplifiers can be realised with load power factors from 0.7 (inductive) - 1 - 0.7 (capacitive). The extensive use of negative feedback means that the harmonic distortion, phase shift between output & input and output load regulation are all extremely well specified.
