Automotive Immunity Testing - for 12 V, 24 V & 42 V systems
......................................................................................................................................................
All electrical sub-assemblies (electrical or electronic devices which draw electrical power from the vehicle battery supply) sold after the first of October 2002 are required to meet the requirements of the Automotive EMC Directive 95/54/EC.
All electronic sub-assemblies that exert any influence over the function of the vehicle must have the full suite of test referred to in the directive applied to them.
We provide a range of test systems for compliance with the requirements of the Automotive EMC Directive, as well as with the additional test requirements of the major motor manufacturers own specifications.
For complying with the requirements of the Automotive EMC Directive, we offer two solutions
The basic CAR-TESTER system is ideal for pre-compliance ISO 7637 testing on 12V, 24 V & 42V powered equipment. The system shown, starting from the bottom, comprises the following units:
- PG-2800 Load Dump Generator (for ISO 7637 Pulses #5 & 7)
- CAR-TESTER (for ISO 7637 Pulses #1 to #3 & Pulse #6)
- PS 52-30 Programmable DC Power Supply - capable of supplying a a maximum load current of 25 Amps.
The full CAR-TESTER system is designed for full-compliance ISO 7637 testing on 12V, 24 V & 42V powered equipment. The principal difference between the basic system & the full system is in the use of a programmable DC amplifier in place of the simpler DC power supply, This ensures that all the ISO 7637 impedance requirements relating to the DC source are fully met and also permits systems to be delivered which have a much greater load current capability.
- Test Impulses According to ISO 7637-2 - Pulses #1 to #7
- Testing for 12 V, 24 V and 42 V supply systems
- Nominal test currents from 28 A up to >300 A
- Capable of superimposing ripple on the DC line
- Negligible source output resistance
- Very fast slew-rate power source
- Power source is fully protected against short-circuit, over temperature and overload
- Real-World Disruption Simulation
- Reproduction of previously captured signals with the ability to also edit the pulse wave-shapes
- Fully programmable for complete test automation
- Fully automatic, software controlled, test procedures with full documentation and evaluation of the test results
The system shown above is based on the PAS 5000 2-quadrant DC amplifier, and is capable of driving loads with a continuous current requirement of up to 200 A (300 A for short periods). Alternative configurations, based on different amplifiers, are capable of operating with load currents from 35 A up to 300 A (50 A to 450 A for short periods).
As well as the PAS 5000 amplifier (ISO 7637 Pulse #4), the system also included the CAR-TESTER (for ISO 7637 Pulses #1 to #3 & Pulse #6) and the optional Load Dump Generator (ISO 7637 Pulse #5).
