The BASIC EMC series of test systems has been gradually developed and expanded to encompass the test requirements of a wide range of the European BASIC EMC immunity & emission standards. Currently, the BASIC EMC series is able to perform testing in full compliance with the requirements of the following standards. In each case, dedicated test software guides the user easily through the complete test sequence and also provides full, documented, test reports.

A BASIC EMC system comprises either one or three of the PAS series of DC/AC power amplifiers (depending if the test application is single or three-phase), together with associated options. Please click on the button opposite to view data for the PAS amplifier series.
BASIC EMC systems for full compliance testing are available which range in size from 5000VA (16 A/phase) up to 50000VA (>180 A/phase). Smaller test systems are also available with output powers starting from only 1000VA (approx. 4 A/phase).
For the measurement of harmonic and flicker, the ARS 16 Real-Time Harmonic Analyser & Digital Flickermeter is integrated within the system. The ARS 16 combines the signal analysis function and the Reference Impedance (as defined within EN 61000-3-3) within a single, compact unit, permitting even tighter control to be exercised over system errors resulting from internal cabling losses. The use of discrete components in the construction of the reference impedance unit also means that calibration of the ARS 16 unit is greatly simplified - with the traceability of the resulting Reference Impedance calibration data being absolutely indisputable.
Overall control of the BASIC EMC system is provided by the SyCore control unit. The SyCore is a multi-function, multi-channel synthesizer and control unit which can be equipped with up to 4-channel cards. Each of these channels is capable of driving a PAS amplifier, and can be optioned to include various hardware & firmware modules. This flexibility means that the SyCore can be easily equipped with the capabilities necessary to ensure that the BASIC EMC system continues to meet the requirements of new and emerging test specifications and requirements.
A principle hardware option for the BASIC EMC system is the Inrush Current Source. This unit is unique in that it permits the BASIC EMC system to meet the (optional) Inrush Current drive capability of 500Ap, as specified within EN 61000-4-11. The Inrush Current Source option, coupled with the fast rise-time of the PAS amplifier, makes the BASIC EMC test system the only fully EN 61000-4-11 compliant test system available on the market today!
