The Power Supply Selection Guide below provides a general overview of our range of precision laboratory DC power supplies. Virtually all power supply types have an extensive range of standard options available to further improve their specification to better meet your particular requirements, including lower ripple (voltage and/or current) and higher stability options. Power supplies to meet virtually any level of specification can be supplied, thanks to our near 30-years of experience and expertise. And, if no standard power supply can meet your particular requirements we'll design and manufacture a custom unit just for you!

Standard power supplies are available starting from 6.5 V low voltage units up to 300 kV high voltage systems and in all power classes from 1 W up to >200 kW (higher voltages & power available on request) - including the HCN & HCN 7E range of modular power supplies in the popular EURO-size and IMS-size cases (output voltages from 125 V up to 35 kV, output powers from 7 W up to 350 W).

All power supplies deliver a highly stabilized DC voltage and/or current, with the value of the output voltage and current being controllable from zero up to the maximum nominal value of the unit. Outputs are protected against both short circuits and flash over. Depending upon the characteristics of the applied load, the power supplies work in either constant voltage mode (voltage source) or constant current mode (current source) with automatic transition between modes. Ohmic, capacitive, inductive or complex loads  can be connected. The output values may be adjusted by means of ten-turn potentiometers on the front-panel (not for cassette power supplies) or, optionally, via any of the available analogue or high-resolution digital interfaces.

General information applying to all power supply types:

  • Optional 19" rack mounting (larger units are manufactured as 19" stand-alone racks)
  • Optional 16-bit High-Resolution PROBUS V Digital Interface (USB, IEEE 488, Ethernet, RS 232 etc.) - except for HCN & HCN 7E series which already include an analogue programming interface
  • Optional analogue programming interface (standard on HCN & HCN 7E supplies)
  • Optional Polarity Reversal Switch for high voltage power supplies (except HCN & HCN 7E)
  • Can be extensively modified to optimally meet individual customer specification

Please also contact us for information on custom or non-standard designs, including multi-output designs, or for information on standard standard supplies modified for:

  • higher output voltage
  • higher output current
  • higher output power
  • higher output stability
  • lower output ripple
  • higher setting resolution
  • special mains supply voltage/frequency requirements
  • special output isolation requirements
  • reduced stored energy designs
  • flashover detection
  • power regulation operation mode
  • etc.
NOTE: When selecting a power supply, please ensure that you are aware of the meaning of all the relevant terms used in the data sheet. If in doubt, please refer to 'Terms used in the definition & specification of FuG power supplies'
